original title: gefangen in der dimension.

silhouette-cutout on cardboard, ladder cut cardboard glued with white glue. finished cardboard attched onto black cardboard.

should help to think about how to escape from a given dilemma...
will it be possible for this twodimensional man to creep out? to discover an additional dimension, both in space and mind?

heavily influenced by works of Peter Callesen.

enjoy!

The concept reminds me of "Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions." In reference to your question of escape, what about perception?. For example if the 2-D man were to have the ladderl drop down and make two dots on his 2-D plane, theoretically he would only see the dots...not the ladder which made it. ;)

This is wonderful. :)

:) thank you.
yes, in a pure 2D world the ladder couldn't exist. there would only be those two dots...
but it's a nice thouht experiment to ponder about a mixture of dimensions and their implications.

Well, the ladder could and would exist, they just wouldn't be able to see it for what it was...all they'd notice would be the two dots. And of course, you also have to wonder what their thoughts would be to have these two dots suddenly appear out of nowhere. Probably be scary as all hell.
